- Jan Kraga and his daughter, Meta, receive a call from Kraga's friend, John Morgan. With Morgan comes Sir John Herschell, who is studying African farming. Hans Vedder, a neighboring farmer, loves Meta and is displeased when his love is not returned. It is almost love at first sight with Meta and Sir John, and Hans, seeing the trend of events, is infuriated. Hans goes to Kraga and demands that Meta name a wedding day, and Kraga promises him that she shall do so. Meta refuses her father's demand that she marry Hans, and he orders her from their home. Armed with a small knife, she wanders into the jungle. There she is attacked by a ferocious leopard, and bleeding from many wounds, she escapes death by a miracle. Her father, with Hans, Sir John and others, find her later with a huge elephant with whom she has made friends and which animal is conducting her from the jungle wilds. Kraga shows remorse and the girl is taken to Morgan's home, where, upon her convalescence, she agrees to marry Sir John.

Hence the urgency in this video to find the snared dog by Grant Beverley, The EWT's field researcher on the KNP Wild Dog project and SANParks vet Dr. Peter Buss.

- Steve presents in South African the African wild dog, a canine which hunts in deadly-efficient packs, dispensing with feline stealth in favor of relentless stamina. Mike makes a large mural, showing a whole pack on their deadly prowl, contrasting bright colors and black shadows. Further there's a drawing and a colors elaboration.
- In the bushveld of the Greater Kruger National Park lives a family of one of Africa's most iconic species, the African wild dog or painted wolf. Highly social creatures, the pack shares all duties including raising their latest litter of over 10 pups. With so many hungry mouths to feed a hunting party must be dispatched twice a day in search of prey. Meanwhile, one adult stays behind as a babysitter to guard the pups against danger. If the hunters are successful, they will consume the carcass as quickly as possible to avoid losing out to scavengers. With their stomachs filled to capacity, they will return to the den to regurgitate and share the meat with the rest of the pack.
